Best orientation to place this on the platform.
« on: December 05, 2013, 03:10:03 PM »
Howdie all,

New to the world of 3D printing and trying to get my head around the best way of doing things.
I have created a solid part which you can see in the attached images.

I would like to know from peoples past experiences what the best way to print this part. How should I place this on the platform, what are the things I should be considering.

Thanks in advance.
Chris.

Hi Chris,

From the images, I would look at printing the part on its side. If you were to print it with the 'legs' pointing up, it could be tricky to remove the support from the top cut outs.  When placing a part you want to look at which orientation will generate the least amount of support material or which one will make the support material easiest to remove.
