Fan on or off?
« on: August 19, 2014, 01:26:20 PM »
The fan has a switch, but the manual makes no mention under what conditions the fan should be on or off.  Any suggestions?

Are you referring the the vent door on the print head?

You can find the pros/cons of having the door open or closed in section 10.5 of the manual, here.

Thanks for the reply.

I had read that part of the manual and researched the matter further afield.  I was wondering if anyone had some further advice or nuances beyond that in the manual.

What started this was a sudden change in performance with a new (special) batch of ABS.  My prints went sour.  I suspected the material, but wanted to explore all options.  Since my first post I acquired some original UP ABS and printed parts with it at the same settings to compare with the "special" stuff.  I found my problems went away with the "original UP" material, and parts now print as they first did without my having to think much about any part of the print process.  See my new post of ABS aint ABS.
