General Discussion / Multi-threaded scanning issues
« Last post by ricardobrooks on August 08, 2018, 11:46:57 PM »
Hello,

I pretty much have GdPicture built into my entire application now except for one hickup, multi-threaded scanning. I have been working on it for a couple of days now but I just can't seem to get it to work. I have two scanners that I am working with. One is the Epson GT-S80 and the other is the Xerox Documate 510. Each scanner is working differently so I will try to explain. Hopefully there is an easy solution. By the way, I am using a Windows 7 64-bit computer and Visual Basic 2008 targeting the .NET 3.5 Framework and the X86 Platform.
Epson GT-S80 Twain driver - I have finally been able to get it to work on a separate thread. The problem is if I refer to the TWAIN source from anywhere in the original thread (such as by calling TwainSelectSource), the source manager gets opened and so for some reason the scanner will not function in the second thread. I was able to get it to work by calling the "TwainCloseSourceManager" method from the original thread before moving into the second thread.

Any help will be apprecited.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

General Discussion / Scanner makes images look like rainbow
« Last post by ricardobrooks on August 08, 2018, 11:45:04 PM »
Hello,

I have an Acer Scanprisa 640U Scanner. I hooked it up today for the first time in about 6 months. I am trying to scan a picture in and I get this HUGE rainbow across the picture I am trying to scan in. I can post the picture if anybody thinks it would help.
Anyway, I have gone to Color Management and tried loading different color profiles but to no avail. Anybody have any bright ideas?

Any help will be apprecited.

Inspire 3D Printers / Mac Does Not See Printer on USB
« Last post by ricardobrooks on August 08, 2018, 11:42:58 PM »
Hello,

So brand new to this 3D printing thing and been anxious to get my nice shiny new Trinus set up and running. Only to run into a few bumps in the road. Latest being my Mac does not see the printer when plugged into a USB port on my Mac. I tried Pango 2.1 and 2.3 and neither will show the printer in the list of port connections.
I then looked at my Mac system report and it appears to not see the printer either. I tried the USB cable that came with the printer and another I use regularly with my Arduino. Neither works. I tried rebooting the Mac - no joy; tried power cycling the Trinus - no joy. Nothing seems to make the Mac see my printer.

Any help will be apprecited.

General Discussion / Some issues printing PLA
« Last post by robertlhardy on July 31, 2018, 10:40:48 PM »
Hi,

I already own a Makerbot 2x that I use for printing ABS, and I purchased the Up Mini exclusively for PLA (so that I don't need to replace the dreaded Kapton tape frequently. I tried printing PLA three times. The first time it didn't stick to the build plate, so I applied some Painter's tape and the second time it printed pretty well - for about halfway through the print before it just stopped printing completely. So I took the filament out, gave it a clean cut, and reloaded it. It seemed to come out okay, so I tried another print. This time it didn't even start printing. The software doesn't help much. I think the biggest problem is that it takes so much time to even start a build. First of all, I need to re-calibrate the extruder height every time I replace the painter's tape (maybe I need to be more careful). Then I need to click the print button, which slices, uploads, then prints. I can sit there and wait like 20+ minutes for a small print to even start. And this whole time the extruder is hot, which isn't optimal for PLA. Plus I can't find any option to adjust the extruder temperature (besides choosing ABS vs PLA).Also I'm annoyed by the constant beeping. Can I turn it off? Also, aren't there LED's in that thing? Why do they never come on?

Please help.

Inspire 3D Printers / UP Studio V 1.0 update
« Last post by JesseVoss on May 30, 2018, 03:09:23 PM »
Hello,

Great to hear John, it's a job for me this weekend. What printer do you have, is it the UpBox? Also can you let me know the settings you used, I've had two failures so far about 5 hours in, so would be interested in your settings if you get a successful print. The designer in the comments section on thingiverse advised it should be able to be printed without supports. My failures were both around adhesion of the columns to the base of the model.

Please help

Inspire 3D Printers / Inspire 3D Printers
« Last post by JesseVoss on May 30, 2018, 03:08:15 PM »
Hello,

The Inspire 3D Printers are affordable to own and maintain while producing quality results. Your R&D team can print durable 3D models on demand at a fraction of the cost of outsourced parts. You can get high definition 3D parts efficiently, then communicate with key stakeholders and evaluate design concepts. The product development time frame can be reduced dramatically, directly manufacture customised short cycle runs from 3D CAD design to finished part in one step, eliminate time and expense of tooling meeting demanding part specifications with advance process controls. They run quietly and do not need to be attended.

UP Plus / Rubber Like ABS Filament with UP Plus 3D Printer RC Tyre
« Last post by JesseVoss on May 30, 2018, 03:05:14 PM »
Hello,

I recently got hold of some of the Experimental Rubber like ABS Filament. I gave it a try by printing an RC Tyre and Wheel to see how well it worked and was quite surprised. The Wheel was printed using the UP White ABS filament I used the UP Plus 3D Printer with 0.25 Resolution, 0.30 Nozzle clearance to the platform, FInest Fill, No Raft. The only issue I experienced was the filament kept jaming on the reel due to its stickyness. To solve this I just manually pulled the filament off the reel as it fed into the extruder.

Inspire 3D Printers / Issue 216 - 3D Printers

Hello,

However I must say I think you were very hard on the Prusa i3, and scored it quite low. Why so I say this..I really think that when you come to do "Roundup" tests on Hardware, you really should have a "Price/Cost" Verdict. The price of this printer should be taken into consideration for a few reasons.. one you scored it low for ease of setup.. I can understand that,, but when you are only paying 400 what do you expect? When you pay well over 3000 you would expect just to plug and play.If taking the price into consideration I would put it at joint second with 4 stars rather than the 3 you gave it.. Obviously this is my humble opinion, but I would ask that you look at adding Price/cost in future..

Please help.

General Discussion / Re: Multi colour printing with a single colour printer
« Last post by cuspro on January 11, 2018, 04:26:57 AM »
Thank you the information, this topic is pretty old but still wanted to know which 3D printer would be best to purchase for multi color 3D printing. I am into 3D printing service https://www.customprototypes.ca/3d-printing and we have SLA 3D printers, multi color printing is not possible with them but sure painting or dying is easy, you may check it here https://www.customprototypes.ca/single-post/3D-printed-stained-glass-window its all resin based 3D printed, some portions are spray painted and some dyed but further i am looking into commercial 3D printers that can print into multi color. Any suggestions are welcome!

Thank you!
